Rosie Meyers works as a counselor, helping others to heal what has hurt them. She also has her own emotional baggage, still unresolved, with men who have been in her life. She suddenly finds herself in a serendipitous encounter with her high school sweetheart. They were each other’s “first,” and neither has ever forgotten the passion, even though decades have passed. Once they reconnect in Cincinnati, their hometown, where she is attending a professional training, the move toward restarting the flame of their adolescent romance is put into motion. Rosie remembers being grateful to him for being that “safe” and special person during her teenage years, a respite from her emotionally abusive parents.
