The Rosary According to St. Louis de Montfort with Scriptural Meditations by Richard Dole
St. Louis de Montfort is known as the Apostle of the Rosary and has been declared a doctor of the church. His most famous work is entitled True Devotion to Mary in which he proposes that one consecrate themselves to the Lord in, with, and through Our Blessed Mother. St. Louis sees devotion as not only being important, but essential to living a life of Christian virtue. The saint has much to say about the Rosary since Mary is the most accessible and easiest means to being formed in the image of Christ. This small book introduces one to St. Louis de Montfort and the method he recommends for praying the Rosary and meditating on the mysteries of the lives of Jesus and Mary. In the book Secret of the Rosary St. Louis states "...the Rosary said without meditating on the sacred mysteries of our salvation would be almost like a body without a soul." Because the saint refers to Our Lord as Eternal Wisdom the author has used the Wisdom Books of the Bible as scriptural meditations that can be used to help one stay mentally focused on the given mystery. The author hopes to increase devotion to Our Lord, the Rosary, our blessed mother, and St. Louis de Montfort. He also extends his hope to the reader that they find what they are truly seeking which ultimately can only be found in God.
