The pages come to life with colorful rhymes based on one preschool teacher's real life experiences with her own Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis in 2005. This book features colorful illustrations of children with typical diabetes supplies and an informative "reader's guide" that defines some basic terms associated with Type 1 Diabetes. About the Author Taylor Hagemeyer goes by both “Mama” and “Mrs. H.” She is a wife, mother of two and a teacher in a small town. She loves to rhyme, run and grow succulents. This is her second children’s book featuring real life experiences. Taylor was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in high school. She hopes this book will be a friendly resource to spread awareness about the “highs” and “lows” of managing type 1 diabetes. About the Illustrator Adriana Velazquez-Ponton was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Maryland. She is a self-taught artist with a passion for visual storytelling and children’s media. When she isn’t doodling on her tablet, she’s animating! And when she isn’t animating, she’s reading a good book or enjoying an online game with her pals. Her main goal in life is to help tell positive, impactful stories through her art. Things That Rhyme With Type 1 Diabetes is her second cover-to-cover picture book with Taylor and she hopes this book will help spread positivity and awareness for those who either have or know someone who lives with type 1 diabetes.
