The Well-Watered Garden Handbook: How to grow simple gardens that bring lasting hope by Noah Sanders
Does Jesus care about growing food? Can we use gardening to show others both how to grow food and experience the changing power of Jesus? The goal of the Well-Watered Garden Project is to equip people with a simple, Jesus-centered approach to growing food that can provide an opportunity for them to offer both practical and spiritual hope to others. Rather than a dull necessity, growing food can become something meaningful and full of joy. Farmers, homesteaders, and gardeners can be equipped to disciple and serve their communities, and missionaries can be equipped to feed themselves and others. By faithfully planting simple gardens that reflect the humility, unselfishness, and faithfulness of Jesus, we will be creating something worth multiplying in God’s eyes. The Holy Spirit can then use our faithful example to spread Jesus’s message and increase food security for the poor around the world one person at a time, farther than we could ever hope to do so by ourselves. This handbook contains twelve lessons that cover the basic information to plan, install, plant, and care for a small 20-ft.-by-20-ft. There are accompanying Faith Foundations that teach the Biblical principles behind the practical lessons, as well as a trainer’s manual for using the handbook to teach others.
