Brilliant. Wise. Instructive. Charles Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, shares practical wisdom for preachers and pastors. Thank God he sprinkled it liberally with humour, for he sets the bar high and expects constant watching and laborious study from anyone who would fill the pulpit. Like Goliath’s sword, “there is none like it” in terms of Homiletic training. There are many others who have spoken on the subject, but the clarity, practicality, and thoughtfulness of his material none have attained. I wholly recommend these lectures to anyone involved in, or considering, the ministry of pastoring, preaching, and teaching.
