This book was developed to satisfy the requirements of the Engineering College syllabus affiliated with Anna University. According to Regulation-2021, this book contains the whole syllabus for "DESIGN OF REINFORCED CEMENT CONCRETE ELEMENTS" and is intended for Fifth Semester B.E. (CIVIL) students. Students can readily understand the topics presented in this book because all of the concepts are clearly defined. This book comprises of five units which is based on the Fourth Revision of IS 456 adopted by The Bureau of Indian Standards in the year 2000. Unit I covers a variety of design concepts, including the benefits and drawbacks of the Limit State philosophy. The design of reinforced concrete beams using both the limit state method and the working stress philosophy were also covered here. Unit II covers the analysis and design of flanged beams. Also deals with behaviour of Reinforced concrete members in shear, Bond and Anchorage, Design of RC beam for shear, torsion and their combined effects. Unit III discussed the analysis and design of cantilever, one way simply supported and continuous slabs. Also design of two way slab, Dog-legged staircase and its types. Unit IV discussed the different types of column, and also Design of short column for axially loaded, uniaxial loaded and biaxial bending. Unit V deal with design of wall footing design of axially loaded and eccentrically loaded rectangular footing, including the design of combined rectangular footing. This book is a textbook in the classic sense with an examination focus, even if it contains a great deal of illustrated examples and all the information required to pass exams. Here, a strong foundation and conceptual clarity are prioritised. Students are encouraged to make the use of SP16: 1980 (Published by Bureau of Indian Standards).
